Prayer of a Black Boy Essay
In the poem The prayer of a Black Boy the writer wrote the poem in the point of view of a young black boy which is the speaker of the poem. who was a slave at this time. The poet tells us that the black boy doesnââ¬â¢t want to go to a white people school because he they are teaching him a new culture that he doesnââ¬â¢t like it he finds it boring because is a new culture and they do things that he doesnââ¬â¢t do at home, he also says that he doesnââ¬â¢t want to be a gentleman of the city because they have a sad life. The poet wrote this poem like a narrative story and he makes the poem very descriptive and he also makes his point across by using alliteration which will create a specific sounds or images stand out, he also uses metaphor to make images of what the slaves went throw. The writer shows us how desperate the and humiliated and tired the black people was. The writer uses metaphors for example when he reflects in the first line of the poem the word ââ¬Å"tiredâ⬠This is a metaphor often used by elderly people when they have lived through many events. They are not physically tired but mentally exhausted. This suggests that the young boy has witnessed many atrocities and culture changes inflicted on his race by the white culture. The poet also gives us to understand that for a black person to go to school was very difficult because of the way he was seen and mistreated and humiliated because of this. he pleads to god for not going to school ââ¬Å"Lord, I donââ¬â¢t want to go to their schoolâ⬠please help me that I need to go againâ⬠the boy says it was to difficult because â⬠the road to school is steepâ⬠By this he means that the school isnââ¬â¢t actually on top of a hill, but it is a mental ascent to have the courage to accept another culture teaching him western traits, most of which arenââ¬â¢t relative to the life he wants to leave and that he thought that he was going to loose he culture and way of learning which was by traditional dances and by story telling under the light of the moon ââ¬Å"who do not know how to dance by the light of the moonâ⬠. The poet gives us to understand that the boy prefers to carry on with his own tradition â⬠I want to follow father into the cool gorgesâ⬠because he finds his culture more interesting we can see this when he writes a personification ââ¬Å"when the night is hovering over magic forestâ⬠he uses a personification in here to create an image of the night floating over the trees which is obviously not true because the night is a natural thing which is everywhere, he also shows freedom and happiness of his ants esters by writing ââ¬Å"Where spirits play before the dawn.â⬠He shows freedom of how the spirits play o the night. By the writer using alliterations he makes an image of a ship throwing out like animals its crew ââ¬Å"a ship on the sugarfields, Land and spits its crewâ⬠he also gives an image of black workers useless after they have finished their shift The writer writes again ââ¬Å"Lord, I do not want to go to their school, Please help me that I need no to go againâ⬠, the writer repeats this phrase again to show how desperate and unhappy the boy is and to show that the boy doesnââ¬â¢t want to be the ââ¬Å"gentleman of the cityâ⬠or as the whites ââ¬Å"call it a real gentlemanâ⬠,in here the writer gives us to understand that the boy doesnââ¬â¢t want learn the by the way that the whites learn by using books of other countries and learning things that they donââ¬â¢t now or seen before, we see this when he say ââ¬Å"Why should we learn again from poreing

Project mangment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Project mangment - Essay Example The ideal required wind energy can be found at high altitudes where continuous wind speeds occur. In general the sea coastal areas and / or hilly areas are more preferred locations to establish the wind mills because of uninterrupted flow of wind. Wind ââ¬â movement of air is called wind. The wind moves everything whatsoever comes in its way. Wind turbines or wind generators, like propeller blades of aircraft, turn and power electric generator generates an electric current. In more simplified it is stated that a wind turbine is opposite of a home fan. Instead of using electricity to make wind in fan, a wind turbine uses wind to make electricity. The wind turns the blades on the tower and spins a shaft which is connected to a generator to generate electricity. This production of electricity mainly depends on the velocity of the wind. Only higher wind velocity throughout the year makes the wind mill project viable. The wind turbine system consisting of blades, shafts, gears and generator is operated through a sophisticated computer controlled system installed at the base of the tower which also have sensors to sense the wind speed and its direction to switch on and off the wind turbine generator. Generally the user company gives a time limit or schedule for building and operation of wind mill project and the supplier (s) and / or contractor (s) should abide by the given time table as much as possible. However in certain cases the delivery time of many materials is long which delays for completion of project. Prevalent circumstances like human factors, whether or other natural calamity also sometimes create late completion. Ideal time for completion of project could be 3-4 months. Most countries maintain whether, oceanic and atmospheric records for different purposes including future prediction, study, educational research, etc. These information are

Justice Antonin Scalia and the Doctrine of Original Intent Research Paper
Justice Antonin Scalia and the Doctrine of Original Intent - Research Paper Example What originalism is and the advantages of originalism as compared to other methods of constitution and statutes interpretation. He has also given reasons as to why he chooses to use the method of originalism over other methods which still prove to be efficient. Original intent is used in law as a theory that defines how the constitution and statutes should be interpreted. Original intent implies that when interpreting any text, the authors intent on that particular text, should first be determined so as to accomplish the purpose of that statute. Original intent assumes that a particular text has only one intended meaning (Scalia 23). Theoretical debates on the adjudication of the constitution have been there for a long time. There are all types of advocates who give different methods of interpreting statutes as well as the constitution and how the courts ought to do and what they ought not to do. Originalism is a method that has proved quite dominant in America (Levy 342). This metho d has been well embraced by Justice Antonin Scalia. Who is seen to fully embrace this method and further gives long justifications to help support the originalism belief. Justice Scalia Antonin insists that Original intent determines the meaning of the constitution. ... Scalia advocates for textualism with exceptional rigidity. Textualism refers to having statutes interpreted based on its normal meaning. Other critics say that textualism is more of political. All the same Justice Scalia Antonin appears to be more conservative as is evident in his service at the Supreme Court. Scalia agrees that text that is statutory is not necessarily inherent liberally neither inherently conservative as that depends on who wrote it. Originalists say that reading strictly of any text can only be found by giving an interpretation of the constitution by using the original intent of that particular constitution. Justice Scalia opts to use an originalism theory that is softer, that is to say, interpretation should be made based on the time of constitution adaptation. Scalia feels this is much stricter as compared to allowing attempts by Justices to decipher authorââ¬â¢s intent. Textualism is what Justice Scalia advocates for since he believes that Intent ruling is a s ambiguous as a living constitution. He believes this allows greater discretion as compare to other methods of interpretation. According to the conservative originalists, rights are those made via the democratic process and written constitutionally together with its amendments. Justice Antonin Scalia does not quite agree with the living constitution idea or even agree to give power to the judiciary to even modify the constitutional. This means that Scaliaââ¬â¢s originalist method is more of statutory interpretation of the text than the living interpretation of the constitution. Believing that the normal meaning of the statute should facilitate for

Socioeconomic classes - Essay Example On the other hand health issues due to poor nutrition, scarcity of resources, no revelation to the latest technologies, lack of education and awareness hampers the self-esteem of a child belonging to a family with low socioeconomic status. Parents of low socioeconomic group do not possess high degrees and lack exposure as well as confidence to face the competent world. Research reveals that SES is linked with an extensive assortment of physical condition, cognitive, and socio-poignant upshots in kids. These implications are experienced by the child right from the fetal stage and continue throughout the life (Bradley, 2002). Child belonging to high SES gets right to use various information, substances and communal sources or responses to deal with stress generating situations. SES influences welfare at numerous intensities, both within the family and those associated with the family and surroundings. Its implications are restrained by kids 's individual personality, relations and outs ide collaborative procedures (Bradley, 2002). References Bradley, R. H., Corwyn, R. F. (2002). Healthy People 2010 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Healthy People 2010 - Essay Example The APN whose training is now in advanced theoretical concepts with added elements of practice and the use of the nursing framework is imminently qualified to assure this process takes place (Kohr, 1998). The APN is now a leader in developing nursing practice through provision of leadership and maintenance of a commitment to developing nursing practice, using her authority and power to influence clinical and policy decisions and providing clinical development. The goal that is chosen affects much of the communities need. In strengthening community prevention it is meant through education, community based programs and interventions and the reduction in violence and abusive behavior, all of which the APN is innately trained to handle through her collaborative and communicative style and abilities (Stanhope and Lancaster, 2008). She is also well able to handle these issues based on her strong clinical nursing background on which she has built the knowledge that she presently has. The values that have grounded the practice of an APN are advocacy, holism, nursing experience, integration or theory into practice and added medical functions in a nursing framework. Each of these parts of her practice that have come from grounded nursing theory are the strengths that will help guide her through the changes in practices and processes that will need to occur in the community to meet the new goal. The APN has at her disposal the deliberate, purposeful, and integrated use of expanded nursing knowledge which she has expanded from her original clinical ability. She uses knowledge , research, and that expertise in clinical practice to know what has to be done to advance the concept while at the same time she uses her collaborative skills to work with the rest of the team toward change (Ingersoll, 2000). The use of evidence based practice to help in the change of the processes that are needed to protect the public health falls within the new expertise of the APN. A strong and thorough understanding of evidence based practice coupled with the ability to understand and conduct good research is important in developing interventions to improve prevention. The development of an intervention is strongly research based and the development and evaluation of that prevention requires the understanding of statistical and data based information. During the change process necessary to institute much of the work that must be done for each of these interventions, another strong talent of the APN will be used and that is her leadership ability. This nurse will lead teams with confidence and collaboration. She will organize and move forward on initiatives that have only been discussed before. Healthcare will change very rapidly in the next few years, even more rapidly than ever before. The power and ability of the RN has been far underused in the past considering her education and expertise in clinical care but now the APN has placed herself in a position that provides her with enough power to make change (Kohr, 1998) Strengthening community prevention affects all parts of the community. When good prevention initiatives are put into place the community as a whole is served. The APN is an advocate of the community. In this position, she is able to advocate for those that need it the most, assuring that their need is part of the community policy that is

The Accountability Strategy read chapter 8 Article
The Accountability Strategy read chapter 8 - Article Example To measure activities used in teaching mathematics in a school, the most important measure involves imparting new skills thus the need to evaluate the learning resources applied by the teacher. There is also need to assess the amount of time spent in effective instruction and the means used. For example hands-on learning is more effective, thus by this assessment, activities can be measured. In measuring output, keys aspects to look into entail, attendance can be used as a measure since high attendance of the lesson indicates interest, while the outcomes can be measured against the objectives of the lesson, which in this case would be application question in a test depicting real life events. This is particularly possible in algebra lessons, which are both abstract and applicable. Therefore, effectiveness can be measured using the amount of time spent teaching and this can then be put against the goals and objectives. More time with poor results indicate low efficiency, while less time and better results indicates otherwise. Collection of information about efficiency, output, outcome and activities can be obtained from official records since all teachers are required to keep records of the work they have taught. As such, this makes it easy to obtain information unless the data is confidential, as is the case with test scores. If the names of students are not required, then the acquisition of this data becomes fairly easy. Collection of data is meant to evaluate effectiveness of methods of teaching and the resources allocated to the teacher, as well as the time taken to teach (Berman, 2006 pg. 150). As a result, the most important aspect of the data is in the learning outcomes, where learning outcomes take centre stage. This affects the choice of performance measure in that the outcome has to be reflected on most in spite of the purposes overlapping. The difference between accomplishments and activities is narrow as there is
